Alpana has two excellent accommodation options.

Shearers Quarters

 Features

  • 7 bedrooms, each with two single beds. No bunks! Beds can be pushed together to create a king-sized bed.
  • Ceiling fans in six bedrooms and the lounge/dining room
  • 2 bathrooms (total of three showers and four toilets)
  • Large fully equipped kitchen (including 2 electric fridges, 2 gas stoves, electric kettle, microwave oven, cutlery, crockery and much more)
  • Large dining/lounge room with an open fireplace
  • Outdoor gas BBQ, fire ring, trestle table and chairs
  • Set on the bank of Alpana Creek with lots of gum trees around
  • 24 hour 240V diesel community generator (power is limited so please leave your hairdryer and electric heaters at home!)
  • Spectacular scenery, plants, birds and animals, bushwalks, 4WD tracks and more
  • Your booking secures exclusive use of the whole building.
  • No pets

Things to Bring

  • Bedding: Sheets, pillow, blankets, sleeping bag, towel (bed, mattress and mattress cover are supplied. Pillows supplied on request)
  • Toiletries (some toilet paper is provided)
  • Food (2 fridge/freezers, cupboard space available. Remember the marshmallows for toasting!)
  • Drinks (pristine Flinders Ranges rain water available)
  • Torch
  • First aid kit
  • Hat
  • Camera
  • Good walking shoes
  • Games (some games and reading fodder provided)

Rates

  • Minimum $200 per night for up to 4 adults
  • Extra adults: $35 each per night
  • Extra children: $25 each per night
  • For groups of 10 or more people: $35 per adult, $25 per child
  • Hire of bed linen and towel: $35 per bed
  • For group bookings of Quarters and En-suite powered sites, price on application.

The shearers' quarters were a real “home away from home” and we were most comfortable.

Nungawurtina Hut

Nungawurtina Hut is a pine and pug hut built in 2002 in a traditional 1880s style from local native pine and local stone. Nestled in a scenic valley 7kms from Alpana homestead, this is a true Flinders retreat for those who need to get a little closer to nature and would like the comfort of a warm, dry, cosy hut. Think of it as comfortable camping. The Hut sleeps six on three bunk beds and has an open fire, table, chairs, crockery and cutlery for six, a 2 ring gas stove top, kitchen sink, 12 volt solar powered lights, rain water tanks, outdoor fireplace, camp shower and pit toilet. The hut is perfect for bushwalking, nature watching, relaxing and getting away from it all. Nungawurtina Hut can only be accessed by high clearance 4WD or All WD vehicles. Short walks and 360 degree views can be experienced, with a 4 hour return walk to Blinman Pools for the fit. Please note there is only 12V power for the Hut lights and shower, no refrigerator, no 240V power. Pets allowed.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer free samples. As a retailer, we buy all magazines from their publishers at the regular trade price. However, you could contact the magazine’s publisher directly to ask if they can send you a free copy.

No, you don’t have to create an account. But there are a few advantages if you create an account.

No, we don’t have a physical store location at the moment. We accept only orders through our online shop and we’re shipping all orders with the Swiss Post Service. Please visit our shipping section for more details.
